This commemorates the day on which the Buddha descended from heaven after teaching Dharma to his mother. At DGL Nunnery there were days of preparation for the evening puja to the Buddha and sixteen Arhats.
The Nunnery, which was festooned with coloured lights and candles, looked like a Pureland. The Stupa looked particularly spectacular. During the puja a nun from each year group delivered a discourse which she had composed and memorized based on her studies. There was also a lively demonstration of debating and the beautiful chanting and hypnotic hand drumming of the Chod practice. This impressive event was enjoyed by Khenpo Tsering, Ven. Tenzin Palmo and the nuns and staff. |
