A message from Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo
All of us at Dongyu Gatsal Ling are deeply saddened by the passing away on 16th February 2017 of Kyabje Dorzong Rinpoche. He died in Taiwan where he had gone for treatment following a long period of ill health.
My friendship with Dorzong Rinpoche extended more than 50 years since he was the heart-son of the 8th Kyabje Khamtrul Rinpoche. He served as President of the Tashi Jong community for over 20 years and later established his own monastic settlement named Jangchub Jong in the Kangra Valley. Dorzong Rinpoche was by temperament a scholar and an impeccable monk but he was also a highly realised practitioner having a naturally benevolent and compassionate nature. He was always even-minded and tranquil with a ready smile displaying his open-hearted kindness.
From the start Dorzong Rinpoche was always pleased to be involved with DGL Nunnery and helped us very much especially by ordaining our nuns and bestowing empowerments and teachings. He was also supportive of the higher ordination [bhikshuni] for nuns. We shall miss him deeply and pray that he is swiftly reborn to continue his bodhisattva activities to benefit us all.
