Special Puja at Tashi Jong PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 10 February 2009

Last Tuesday, we went to Tashi Jong to participate in a puja in the morning. There was as elaborate religious ceremony organised to commemorate the death anniversary of the 8th H.E Khamtrul Rinpoche. The occasion was quite solemn. Three Togdens and some monks performed the Puja. When the puja was over, two monks came out. They wore special costumes. Each monk had a small drum and they did a short dance before the fire. There was a bucket full of water and milk mixed together. Then, all the people stood in a queue to have the fire and water blessings.

In the evening, after dinner, once again, the monks performed puja and we, the nuns from the Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery, also joined them. The puja was held outside in front of the stupa. The stupa looked very beautiful and majestic. All the four sides of the stupa had many butter lamps, small colorful lights and candles. Everything looked very nice. They had decorated the Monastery with lights. They offered us tea, biscuits and sweets. The puja finished at 8 pm then we returned to our Nunnery.
