H.H. 17th Gyalwang Karmapa's teachings Tilokpur PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 February 2007
During Tibetan New Year in February all of the nuns, several staff members, and Khenpo Tsering spent several days at the Tilokpur Nunnery receiving teachings from His Holiness the 17th Karmapa on the Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva.

At the end of the talk Karmapa remarked that although he had the body of a male, he felt very feminine inside. So although he is here to benefit all sentient beings in general, he nonetheless felt very strongly that he wants to benefit women- who have traditionally had a very difficult time- and in particular he wanted to help all of the nuns in any way he could. (This had all of the nuns in tears!)

We left in our nunnery on the 21st of Feb at 9:00 am. We went to Tilokpur by bus. We booked one bus for us. We arrived there about one o'clock in the afternoon. We ate lunch there and went for the Long Life Empowerment in the Tilokpur nunnery. On the 22nd of Feb. His Holiness the Galwang Karmapa started to give the Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva teachings. It took three days. It was my first time to receive teachings from the Karmapa. I liked it very much. He also gave us Bodhisattva vows and Refuge vows. During the teachings the Tilokpur nuns offered meals and tea to us. There were more lay people than monks and nuns. We stayed in an Indian house in Tilokpur. We had problems there because there was no toilet and bathroom. We brought water from the Tilokpur nunnery in a bottle and washed our face and brushed our teeth. In the mornings we joined the Tara puja with Tilokpur nuns. One day we went to see the Karmapa in his room and took photos with him. I thought we were very lucky to have this opportunity.

One day they celebrated the Tai Situ Rinpoche's birthday. They gave us cakes, sweet rice, and chocolate. I thought this teaching that the Karmapa gave us will benefit to all sentient beings. May we get chance again and again, it will help to change our mind toward the Dharma. It was my prayer'.
